Imminent Self Update...

Today was a recap of last week and a chance to ask any questions that we had about the new brief along with the usual Studio time. 

 I spent time looking through the brief again and I am interested in the Network-Ego heading, looking into what the words mean or represent. I also discussed ideas within a small group and talked about ideas that others had against mine.

 It is important to produce original work for this brief, whether it is finished or not I discussed with Dave about ideas and trying new things, this is more important than a finished piece of work, tutors are looking for new ideas and work that hasn't been done before - this shows initiative. 

 I plan on collecting more research and adding it into my sketchbook, exploring words and their meaning etc etc etc.

We were formally introduced to the YCN briefs today, it has been mentioned prior to this lecture but its now time to develop ideas and final outcomes! I looked into all the live briefs and I'm thinking about ArtFund_, Frontier or The Grown Up Chocolate Company. I need to start sketching out ideas and reading over each brief again to make a final decision about which one I want to explore... Looking forward to possible outcomes for this!

3D Project

Todays workshop was inspired by MGMT, 'All We Ever Wanted Was Everything' a music video that incorporates animation and techniques that I learnt in todays workshop.  MGMT - All We Ever Wanted Was Everything from oneedo on Vimeo . I learnt about cameras, animating in 3D, adding textures, visual styling and z-space.  I used artwork that I had created prior to the workshop and added in textures, a page turn effect (similar to the MGMT video) lighting and cameras. I enjoyed todays workshop but wasn't overly happy with the final outcome. 3D Project_Workshop - Newcastle from Maria Lynam on Vimeo . After the workshop I created new artwork to use and created another video that I am much happier with!  I really like the page turn effect and wanted to make this the main focus for the video and thought it worked better with these drawings. I also incorporated text into the background in relation to New York City.   Below is the artwork...

Today's lecture was a catchup session and reminder of where we should be at with our Genealogy projects. I have generated ideas for this brief and looked at multiple object choices: > Relate the object to an artist - a found pen, pencil, crayon, notes, paint, brushes etc.  > Bottle - this could be the bottle cap or bottle itself - the narrative relating to where it came from > Space - look at planets, small black holes - things that have been discovered through science and what they do, what they hold etc.  > House - finding a new home, just moved house the narrative could relate to where the house is, why the need to move etc.  I will take these four ideas and create small narratives for each and figure out which would work best as an idea.  I have also been thinking about my final outcome (briefly) and I have become inspired by Eduardo Paolozzi, he was considered to be the pioneer of Pop Art.
